Obituary of Vera Pearl Matthews
MATTHEWS, VERA P. – On Tuesday, June 26th, 2012; Vera Pearl(Newman) Matthews,wife of the late Audber Matthews of Campobello, NB passed away peacefully at the Campobello Lodge and went home to be with her Lord and by her husbands’ side of almost 60 Years. Born in Campobello she was the daughter of the late Edgar & Dora (Morrison) Newman. Vera was a longtime faithful member of Wilsons Beach United Baptist Church and had served with such groups as the Womens Mission Group and the church choir. For many years Vera was known to help out during the summers at Edith Lank Camp with the fish fry. Vera is survived by her son Winston ( Nellie), 2 daughters Deborah Anthony and Ruth Kelsey (Bruce)all of Campobello, 8 grandchildren,Hannah Cully,Stephanie Anthony,David Anthony,Shaun Anthony,LeRoy & Barry Matthews(Susan),Rebecca Kelsey, Crystal Lyons(Jamie),10 great grandchildren,John Moores, Kendra Anthony, Kaleb Anthony, Joseph Moores, Benjamin Matthews, Samantha Matthews,Sarah Matthews,Sebastian Kelsey,Logan Lyons and Emma Lyons. Vera was predeceased by her husband Audber, and a brother Manning Newman and a sister Alvena Thornton. A funeral service in celebration of Vera’s life will be held on Thursday, June 28th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Wilson’s Beach Cemetery, Head Harbour Road. Donations to Wilsons Beach United Baptist Church or Edith Lank Camp would be appreciated by the family.
