Obituary of Rikk Matheson
MATHESON RICHARD G. - Taken from us unexpectedly due to a heart attack on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012; Richard “Rikk” George Matheson of Campobello, NB. Born in St. Stephen, NB, he is the son of the late William Earl and Dora Louise (Matthews) Matheson. He was predeceased by an infant daughter and brother Ronnie. Rikk is survived by his companion Heather, his 2 brothers Donnie (Laurel) and Randy (Gerry), niece Christa (Denise) and nephew Jeffrey (Cali and Wyatt) all of Campobello. Those who knew “Rikk” knew him as a man of music, spent a lot of time as a DJ, working first in the world of radio and more recently as respected web-based reviewer in the independent music world. He will be remembered for his loyalty to his favourite teams - wearing his Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jays Jerseys at every chance. Memories of him include how much he cared for and unconditionally supported others in the community. He had a special bond with friends that he loved and cherished and they had a supportive and kindred friendship with him as well. The phone would ring at all hoursof the night for Rick and he would take the phone in to another room and talk for hours, always encouraging others and us at the same time. We had some great plans and things we were looking forward to doing with Rick. Clearly, someone else had better plans for him.... By request of the family there will be no visitation, however friends are welcomed to attend a memorial service to celebrate his life to be held on Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. Donations to Wilson’s Beach Cemetery would be appreciated by the family. On line condolences to the family and donations can be made at www.humphreysfh.com Arrangements have been entrusted to the care & direction of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 506 – 466 – 3110.
