Obituary of Eleanor Grace Stymest
STYMEST, ELEANOR G. … At her residence, Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, NB on Sunday, February 12, 2012, Eleanor Grace Stymest, R.N., wife of the late Francis W.C. (Frank) Stymest; formerly of Charles St, St. Andrews. Born in Cobden, near Pembroke, Ontario, the daughter of the late George & Mary (Brown) Purcell. Eleanor served as a surgical nurse in Pembroke before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in World War II. She served in Canada, England and Northwest Europe, retiring with the rank of Captain (Matron). Following her discharge from the army, she was employed by the federal government, serving as a nurse counsellor. In 1973 she and Frank moved to St. Andrews where they made many friends and became active members of All Saints Anglican Church. She is survived by one nephew, James Murray Purcell and family of Newmarket, Ontario. Besides her parents and husband, Eleanor was predeceased by three brothers, Murray, Robert and Richard and a niece, Patricia Dawn Purcell, R.N. There will be no visitation, but a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 at 11:00 am at the St. John the Baptist Chapel of Ease in Chamcook.Canon John Matheson officiating. The interment will take place in the Memorial Garden. Memorial donations to All Saints Anglican Church, the Salvation Army or the Charlotte County SPCA would be appreciated.
