Obituary of Jamie Moffatt Coughey

COUGHEY JAMIE MOFFATT - Born in St. Andrews, NB, October 20, 1915; husband of the late Betty Theresa Rouse and youngest son of the late Thomas James & Madeline E.P. (Wood) Coughey, passed quietly away, Wednesday, November, 23, 2011at the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB Jamie was predeceased by brothers Earl Caughey(wife Estella), David Coughey, sisters Mary (Lawrence) Hashey, and Alice Coughey. He is survived by his sons and daughter Douglas(Anne Wiggins) Coughey, Charline (Tim) Hooper, Eric (Michele Dinaut)Caughey, Peter (Anna Bucci) Coughey, grandchildren, Greg, Angela, Luke, Dici, Martha, Tim,Jeff, Allison, Adam, Denise, Joe, Sabrina, and Jamie, 27 great grandchildren, sister in law Lillian Coughey. Jamie was a graduate of Fredericton High School (1936) and Business College in Fredericton, NB. During High School he was in track and field as a cross country runner making it to the Provincials. He was an adventurer, enjoying hiking, hunting, fishing boating and boat building. He played football (Captain), curled with the Heather Curling Club in St. Andrews, played badminton, winning the NBCC Badminton Tournament with his partner when he was 88. Jamie loved going to yard sales, and family gatherings, birthday parties, and festivities. He enjoyed cribbage and bridge clubs and also played both on his home computer.His homemakers and grandchildren enjoyed the challenge of trying to beat him at chinese checkers. Jamie worked with the Province of NB Liquor Commission for approxiamately 20 years. Resting at St. Andrews Baptist Church from where the visitation will be held on Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. only. He funeral service will be held from the church on Saturday, November 26th, 2011 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrews Baptist Church, King St, St. Andrews, NB. Rev. Jason Hinsdale officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. The interment will take place in the spring in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. Donations to a charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
