Obituary of Lillian A. Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald – Lillian Adelaide, beloved wife of the late Philip T. “Dolly” Fitzgerald, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. She was born on March 19, 1930 to Walter & Alice (Corey) Mitchell on Campobello Island. She spent her time between Campobello and Meriden, CT, where she and her family had moved in 1955. Lillian enjoyed baking and spending time with her family. Her vast variety of pies and sweet treats, always made with love, are sorely missed by her family. Lillian also loved to read, follow politics and current events. She also loved drawing; a talent many were not aware that she had. Lillian is survived by daughters Carol Calcinari (John) of South Meriden CT, Andria Fitzgerald of Lubec, ME, and Cheryl Fitzgerald (James Rinaldi) of Middletown CT, grandchildren Traci Calcinari (Herve Kimball), Angela Dean (David), Philip Newman (Kinny), Jeremy Newman (Mary), Daniel Perez (Megan), Desiree Diogostine (Joseph), great grandchildren Lillie, Ava, Vienna, Lance, Colin, Olivia and Tessa, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her treasured sister Lois Calder of Campobello, who in the last years of Lillian's life was her constant support and faithful companion. Our family is truly grateful for our loving Aunt Lois. Besides Lillian's husband and parents, she is predeceased by her much loved son Gordon, her brother and his wife Glen & Lorena Mitchell, her nephew Dana Mitchell, her brother-in-law Neil Calder, her brother-in-law and his wife Durrell & Margaret Fitzgerald and her parents-in-law, with whom she lived for many years Aden & Mae Fitzgerald. For Nanny, her family was her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Beautiful sweet & caring are the words that described her; strong willed and feisty too. I think we would all like to think of her, sitting at the kitchen table on Campobello, making a raspberry pie. We will miss you; we love you Nanny!
