Obituary of Jane M. Kurtz

KURTZ, JANE M. – On Thursday, October 3rd 2019 at the Charlotte County Hospital, with grace and dignity, following a short but courageous battle with brain cancer Jane M. (Boles) Kurtz slipped quietly off to heaven. Wife of the late C. “Allen” Kurtz, she was born on April 12, 1947 at Chipman Memorial Hospital, St. Stephen NB to Gladys (Hubbard) Boles and the late Hazen Boles. Jane is survived by her mother Gladys, daughter Kelly Kurtz-Johnson and her husband Iain, Uncle John (Joan) Hubbard, nephew Mike (Julie) Boles & son Xander, niece Amy Boles, niece Eileen (Sean Ward) Boles, and sister-in law Judy (Sterling) Campbell and nephew Tyler (Erin) Campbell and children. There is also an amazing group of cousins who are each fabulous and a favourite in their own way, and an incredible group of friends who have become chosen family over the years. Including Emily and Max Brown, who were like grandchildren and of course her beloved furry four legged friend Henry! She was predeceased by her only sibling Kenneth Boles, as well as her husband Allen, her father Hazen, and sadly many beloved Aunts, Uncles and dear friends. All of whom we are sure were ready and waiting to celebrate her arrival in heaven with a party! Jane was a woman of deep faith and a long-time active member of the Anglican Parish of St. Stephen attending Christ Church , St. Stephen and St. Peters, Milltown. She was a member of Bethany, served on Vestry and helped out in many ways to serve God. It is her faith and trust in God that helped her particularly over recent years. She decided that she wasn’t going to take up cooking when Allen passed away but she would say ‘Yes’ to any invitation either to enjoy a meal or coffee with others, and any adventure offered because while her sorrow remained life was for living. Even as she faced the biggest battle of her life, she would focus on the positive believing that things would be fine and seeing the blessings. It’s for that reason that her theme song became “For The First Time” and with whit, humour and kindness continued to encourage those around her to do the same. We believe that she and Allen are dancing together again, and this brings those of us left behind the most comfort. A memorial service in celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Christ Church , Prince William Street , St Stephen, NB. A reception will immediately follow in Trinity Hall. The interment will follow in St. George Rural Cemetery. In honour of Jane’s beautiful and bright spirit and her wish to have this celebration of her life as an uplifting and Christian memorial everyone is encouraged to wear something yellow, her favourite colour on that day. In lieu of flowers donations to Fundy Region Transition House, Hospice of Charlotte, Charlotte County Cancer Society or the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
