Obituary of Jeanne Lee Smith
Jeanne Lee Smith of Chamcook died on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the Charlotte County Hospital. Born at St. Stephen, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ellen (Lee) Hooper. Our mother was grounded in nature, where she found peace; she enjoyed gardening, and covered her property in bright flowers, always keeping up with the latest varieties. She was an amazing cook, and the smell of her homemade bread would fill her house. She made a wonderful cheesecake, providing desserts for whatever event she was attending, whether a family gathering or at the By the Sea Full Gospel Assembly, where she attended for over 50 years. She loved Christmas, with all the cooking and family around. But more than anything, her main purpose in life was to be the best mother she could be, a legacy that she has passed on to us. We will miss her every day of our lives. Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Jessica Hatt (Nathan) of Oak Bay, and Kayla Doak (Geordie) of St. Andrews; her granddaughter, Zoey; a sister, Norma Haughn (R. Calvert) of Chamcook; the father of her daughters, Perry Smith; and special nieces and nephew Natalie Sode, Kelly Scott, and Scott Haughn, along with several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jeanne was predeceased by brothers Leonard and Paul Hooper. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to join us on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Anglican Cemetery, Chamcook, to celebrate our mother’s life. For those who wish, remembrances to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements by Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen. Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.humphreysfh.com.
