Obituary of Sheldon L. Fletcher
FLETCHER SHELDON L. - Also known as “Shug” by all who knew him, passed away at the Charlotte County Hospital on Thursday, April 25th, 2019; at the age of 86 years. Sheldon was born July 4th, 1932 on Campobello Island. He worked in pulping in the 1960’s on the island. He was a carpenter and built several homes on the island including his own. He also built boats and took great pride in building and naming his own “The Jealousy”. Sheldon started in the fishing industry when he was only 14 working along side his father and continued fishing until his retirement in 1999. He is predeceased by his wife Ethel Mae (Tucker) Fletcher , brothers Wilfred, Raymond, and Clayton, sisters Roma, Annie and Edna. Sheldon is survived by 9 children. Jessie (Robert), Paula (Dexter), Randy (Diane), Stanley and his friend Maggie, Shelley (Ray), Holly (Dennis), Ella (Medford), Anna, Stephen, several grandchildren and great grandchildren; well loved by “Shug” and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Wilson’s Beach Community Cemetery, Head Harbour Road. Pastor Randy Harris officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the Wilson’s Beach United Pentecostal Church Hall. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
