Obituary of Eileen Barbara Stephenson-Anderson

Eileen Barbara Stephenson-Anderson, 83, has sadly passed away on Sunday, August 30th, 2026, at the Campobello Lodge nursing home located on the island in New Brunswick, Canada.

In 1943, Elieen was born in Oxford, Nova Scotia, and grew up in the province where she battled through some adversity. As a child, she went through the adoption process and suffered from a terrible accident that forced her to have head surgery. Despite the odds, she made a full recovery and, at age 16, became an American citizen when she moved to Massachusetts. She became a bus driver and nanny in the Boston area for many years. During her time in Mass., she met her longtime husband John Anderson at a party for Canadian citizens.

The two of them moved to St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and owned the Busy Bee motel for over 15 years before going their separate ways.

Elieen continued to live in St. Stephen until 2021, when she moved to Hampden, Maine, to be with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. In 2025, she moved to the nursing home.

In the nursing home, she continued to show how strong and stubborn she was as she battled through multiple visits to the hospital and never stopped fighting to live each day despite multiple health issues in her final days.

Elieen was an outgoing burst of sunshine. She was never afraid to show off her dance moves, as her favorite thing in life was music. Her favorite singer was Elvis Presley. She loved Elvis so much that she was ecstatic when her youngest grandchild was born on the same day as his birthday. Her other favorite singer was Daniel O’Donnell who she saw in concert in 2023.

In 2007, Elieen was awarded the Certificate of Lifetime Membership from the North American Hunting Club. In 2011, she was given a Certificate of Appreciation from the Royal Canadian Legion’s Junior Ladies Auxiliary St. Croix Branch #9. Besides being involved in these clubs, Elieen enjoyed candlepin bowling, bingo, and the bright lights of a slot machine.

She is survived by her five children, Linda, Gary, Sandra, Dona, and Tammie. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her brother, Sandy Stephenson.

Elieen has been welcomed in heaven by her son, John Jr., her grandson, sister, and parents.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at the Campobello Lodge for everything in the final year of Elieen’s life. She loved everybody there, and everybody had nicknames, which was her way of showing she considered you a friend.

Elieen will be brought to her final resting place in Winterport, Maine, as she will be reunited with her longtime husband, John Anderson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care & direction of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506 – 466 – 3110)
