Obituary of Glenn Byron Alexander
Glenn Byron Alexander, 84 of Campobello Island, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, with his loving wife at his side.
Born on Campobello May 4, 1942, to Dolly Roselyn Alexander and Gannett Wells Alexander, Glenn enjoyed a childhood on Campobello, growing up with his six siblings. Glenn’s interests and ambitions led him to a 40-year career with Semler Hardwood Co., a historic Canadian owned domestic and imported lumber company specializing in premium and exotic woods. In addition, Glenn’s desire for quality and his keen eye led naturally to a backyard come by chance antique shop which he and Marianne operated for several years (Alexander’s Antiques and Collectibles).
After retirement, much of Glenn’s interest and energy shifted to his community. He was a member of the Campobello Island Health and Wellness Committee, Friends of Head Harbour Lightstation, Charlotte County Credit Union, Campobello Co-op, Property Advisory Committee, Governance/Ferry Committee, as well as the Campobello Food Bank. Glenn has been described as a community voice on Campobello Island and as having a deeply rooted commitment to improving the quality of life of Island residents.
Glenn is predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law Emery and June Matthews, brothers and sisters-in-law Daryl (Barbara), John (Dorothy), Stanley, and Wayne as well as sisters and brothers-in-law Alison Hilton (Lester) and Gay Batson (Irving).
Left to mourn, with fond and loving memories are his wife of 35 years Marianne (Matthews), their children Kelly, Kevin, Stacie, and Matthew (Krista). Their grandchildren Alex (Tiffany), Will (Skye), Tyler (Nil), Zachary (Logan), Landen, Havyn, Meghan (Johnny), and Mitchell. Great-grandchildren Selena, Owen, Olivia, Braelyn, Brady, Brier, Weston, and Isla. Sisters-in-law Carole, Joan Marie, Carolyn and their families, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Glenn will be remembered for his caring and kindness to others. He gave freely of what he had, cared deeply for the people in his life and leaves behind a family who will carry his love and memory with them always.
The family wishes to thank Dr. P. Kay, Dr. M. Stevens, staff of the Campobello Island Health Centre, Teresa Irving RN CCH, and the nurses of the Extra-Mural Program St. Stephen Unit for their care and kindness.
At Glenn's request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Wilson’s Beach Community Cemetery c/o Lois Flynn 329 Back Road, Wilson’s Beach NB E5E 1P4 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Humphreys’ Funeral Home.
