Guitard, Rita B (Hanson)
On Monday, May 4th, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital passed peacefully with her children by her side. Born in Drury Cove she was the daughter of the late Josephine & Stanley Hanson of Saint John NB.
She is survived by her two children Yvette (Gary) Bourque of Ajax ON, Mark (Carol Ann) Guitard of Little Ridge NB, her grandchildren; Kyle (Maria) Guitard, Steven (Erin) Bourque, Tyler (Samantha) Bourque, Emily (Ben) Guitard, 8 great-grandchildren and sister Leota (Mark) Sivret.
She was predeceased in addition to her parents by her siblings Marshall and Jean.
Rita lived at the Loch Lomond Villa in Saint John, were she liked watching the voice, listening to country music, and reading Woman’s World Magazine and the newspaper. She enjoyed Chinese food and Pizza. Rita always looked forward to Tuesday Bingo, where she hoped to be lucky enough to win chocolate or some chips. Rita used to play Volleyball at Glen Falls School.
Prior to retirement Rita worked in the sardine factory in Beaver Harbour, the smoking Line in Black’s Harbour and the St. Andrews Tuna Plant.
She had a special place in her heart for Toronto, visiting her daughter, where she would make necklaces and earrings.
The family wants to thank the staff at the Loch Lomond Villa and the Saint John Regional Hospital for their kind and compassionate care shown towards Rita and the tremendous family support that gathered at her bedside in her final days.
Cremation has taken place, as per Rita’s wishes no services will be held at this time, but a final trip back to Ontario will take place.
