I was so sad to hear of Leona‘s passing. She was a great friend to our family since I was a child, and in later years, a special and treasured friend to my mother. What great memories she will leave for so many people. Truly a life well lived.

To the Monaghan family, what a lovely tribute to your mother. I always looked forward to summer visits to St Andrews and seeing your mom. She was the epitome of grace, intelligence and a keen wit. She was a good friend to our mother, along with your dad. I was always amazed at her memory and her genuine interest, asking about children and grandchildren. She represents the best of her generation! My condolences to you all on your loss.
May her memory be a blessing.

I was saddened to read of Mrs. Monaghan's passing - I knew her best in my childhood as my neighbour up the hill and often had Brenda as a playmate - many good memories. I hope to see the family on Friday at the visitation and service but wanted to share my condolences to all the family. I enjoyed reading this beautiful tribute - what a wonderful life she led. I remember Mum bumped into Leona in the Save Easy after they had moved home to St. Andrews (my Mom passed in 2001) and they had such a great chat and caught up about old times in the neighbourhood. Leona/Mrs. Monaghan told Mom she wouldn't have done anything any other way and was so glad to be back in St. Andrews. God bless all the family - thinking of you.

What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful lady , I will surely miss you Leona as my next door neighbor. I always called you Mrs. Monaghan but you insisted I call you Leona. You were a devoted family Mum who loved her children equally and bragged about them as well, they had a role model like no other. You will be missed by this whole community but especially right here on Queen Street, you made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived 2011 and always checked up on me like one of your own, I appreciated that sentiment and your caring ways. May you rise in glory to be united with Peter. Kind thoughts and prayers to all, Love, Kay

To the Monaghan Family, I was so sorry to learn of Leona’s passing. She and Mom were great friends and Mom looked so forward to their walks together. She and I often chatted about the hotel business and being wives of General Managers. She gave me some great advice!) I know she will be missed greatly by you and so many others. ❤️

So sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. She was a truly special woman! I had the pleasure of helping with her care for a few months and every visit was a breath of fresh air. I will always remember our walks and her wearing her fabulous sunglasses, sitting in the sun room to chat and relaxing on the deck. She always tried to take care of me often trying to feed me various snacks and treats. She was a very kind lady who took so much pride in the family she created and raved about her children daily.
She will be missed.

Dear Michael and all the Monaghans,
I extend to you my deepest sympathy on your great loss.
Mrs. Monaghan was a fabulous person who exuded class and had the tremendous ability to make you feel comfortable in her presence. On one our last visits home, Anne, Rosalind and I had the pleasure of having a visit with her, which we will treasure. She was a very good friend to my mother for many years, wherever she happened to be living.
I have many good memories of our growing up years in which she was involved.
Take good care of yourselves,
Sincerely,
Rosalind & John

Mrs. Monaghan was one of the kindest people you would ever meet. Always so glad to see you and genuinely interested in what you had to say. She was one of the last of the "Church" ladies. (Molly Doon, Kay Walsh, Bert MacAlleenan, my mom, Annie Garnett and Leona were the best of the best and the heart of the Catholic Church in St. Andrews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The last time I was home, we held hands and chatted at Church. I will treasure that memory.
