Obituary of Michael Adrian Barry

Michael Adrian Barry
May 24, 1961 – February 16, 2026 at 11:28 p.m.

With shattered hearts, we announce the passing of our father, Michael Adrian Barry, born May 24, 1961, in Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland, to Charles and Elizabeth Barry.

Above all else, Mike was a devoted and deeply loving husband to the love of his life, Julia Barry. Their love was strong, loyal, and unwavering. He adored her. He was proud of her. He stood beside her through everything. The way he loved our mom is something we will carry with us forever — steady, protective, and full of quiet strength. She was his world.

He was the proud father of his beautiful children: Jenna (Colin), Kristyn, Kathryn, (Tiffaney), Jimmy (Jenna), Keila (Josh), Skye, and Quinn Barry. He was also a devoted and loving grandfather to Brody, Avery, Jaxson, Paisley, Sailor, Lamarcus,Violet and Gabriel and a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews Alexander, Sarah, and Matthew. He didn’t just raise children — he raised strong, respectful, responsible human beings. He taught us by example: work hard, stay humble, protect your family, and never quit. We are who we are because of him.

He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Jacqui Barry (Raymond Tait), Michele Kaulback (Mark), and Jim Barry (Gina).

From 2001 to 2015, alongside his wife Julia, Mike was the manager and co-owner of one of the largest baton and majorette dance schools in Canada, where Julia served as Director. Together, they built something extraordinary. While our mom led with vision and passion, Dad managed operations, supported students and families, and played a key role in the school’s continued growth and success.

Mike also served his country with immense pride and honour for 35 years in the military as a mechanic. He completed multiple tours in combat zones, working in difficult and dangerous conditions to ensure vehicles and equipment were ready and that his fellow soldiers were supported. He carried courage, discipline, and integrity into every mission and earned the deep respect of those who served beside him.

After retiring from the military, Mike continued his career out west with ATCO, where he managed a large camp operation. He oversaw maintenance and operations and led a team of 18 men. His leadership was steady, fair, and respected, and he took great pride in keeping everything running smoothly.

Whether in business, in uniform, or in a management role out west, he led with strength, accountability, and a deep sense of responsibility. Despite the demands of his career and time spent away, family was always his priority. After tours and long rotations, he returned home fully present — camping, boating, tubing, travelling, and making lasting memories with his children. He worked hard, but he loved even harder.

He had a brilliant mechanical mind and gifted hands. He could fix anything, build anything, and engineer solutions to almost any problem. Cars, woodworking, machinery — he found joy in creating and improving, always providing and always building for the people he loved.

Our father worked tirelessly his entire life to provide, protect, and love. He was strong. He was dependable. He was selfless. He was ours.

The greatest love story we witnessed was the one between our mom and dad. That love built our family. That love shaped our lives. He fought for his country, but he lived for his wife and children.

We will miss him beyond words, but we are forever grateful to have been loved by him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506-466-3110).
