Obituary of Wilma Hooper
Wilma Dale Hooper of Campobello Island passed away February 15th, 2026, at Rocmaura Nursing Home Saint John NB. Born on Campobello Island August 4, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Morton (Lou) Thurber.
Wilma was pre-deceased by her husband of 57 years Colby Emery "Jr" Hooper, Lloyd (Dorothy) Brown who raised her from the age of one year, Brother Wayne (Doreen) Thurber, son Douglas (Roberta) Hooper and Nephew Mike Thurber.
Wilma is survived by children Susan (Dave) Wilber of Perry Maine, Elaine (William) Greenlaw Public Landing New Brunswick, Byron Hooper PEI, grand daughter Laura (Jeremy) Cline Grand Bay New Brunswick, Brooke Hooper (Dylan) PEI, two great grand children Rachel and Charlotte Cline, Stepsister Carole (Lester) Chute Campobello Island New Brunswick and many nieces and nephews.
Wilma worked many years for H.W. Welch Wilsons Beach New Brunswick. In 1981 she went to work for Campobello Lodge Nursing Home, where she would continue her employment for the next 22 years. She made many friends there and loved the residents and staff. She loved her flower gardens and enjoyed time with family at Lake George Family Campground, vacations to New Hampshire and bus tours, a great shopping trip was always a must, but more than anything else, nothing could compare to the love she had for dogs. It didn't matter the breed, shape, or size, she would nurture and feed them even if they didn't belong to her, she would have to know they were being loved and cared for. She loved them all, but nothing could compare to the love she had for a yorkie named poppy, she was our mom’s best friend.
Wilma was a member of the Pentecostal Church Wilsons Beach for a number of years and would also attend the Down East Faith Tabernacle Church in Lubec Maine where her son Douglas
Pastored.
The Family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Rocmaura Nursing Home for their compassion and kindness shown to our mom. Your care brought comfort not only to her but to us as well
