Obituary of Ann Marie Young
Ann Marie Young passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the age of 83.
Born in St. Stephen on September 28, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Doris (Langmaid) Calder.
Ann is survived by her husband of 59 years, Melville Young, her children, Jason and Joshua Young (Christina Tarn), beloved grandchildren Claire and Matthew Young, sister Kathryn Russell, niece Alexandra Tinker, great-nephew Lucas Tinker, great-niece Lily Tinker, and sisters-in-law Anne (Carl) Camick and Nancy Young.
Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her infant daughter, Michelle Young.
Ann grew up on Campobello Island. After graduating from high school, she attended Teacher’s College in Fredericton before moving back to the island to teach elementary school and special education, always advocating for her son and continuing to volunteer at the school for years. She was an ever-devoted mother to her boys. She was known for baking countless pies for community fundraisers and she always had a meal to share with anyone who stopped by or to deliver to a neighbour in need.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital CAM Unit for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at All Saints Anglican Church in St. Andrews on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2-4 PM. A funeral service will be held at St. Anne’s Anglican Church on Campobello in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, a donation to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
