Obituary of Paulette Yvonne Matthews
Paulette Yvonne (Stevens) Matthews
Passed away at her home in St. Stephen NB, with her husband, Jamie, by her side. She was born on Nov. 26th, 1956, in Calais, Me.
Paulette graduated from the Lubec Memorial High School in June 1975. She then attended the University of Maine at Farmington. Graduating on Dec. 17, 1979, with her Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Special Education K-12 & regular education K-8, thus fulfilling her dream of becoming a teacher for special needs students.
She married the love of her life, James. B. Matthews, of Campobello Island NB, on August 22, 1980, in Lubec, Maine
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, & “Nana” to so many. She is predeceased by her parents Henry W. Stevens (Feb. 2014) and Judie Ann Stevens (June 2022) as well as her brother Arthur William Stevens (1953).
Paulette is survived by her husband, Jamie Matthews, her two children Jessica Lynn Matthews and partner Maci Branch of Kansas City, MO; Lindsay Michelle (Matthews) Sander and her husband Peter Daniel Sander of Olathe, KS; three beloved grandchildren Audri Yvonne Sander, Ethan Edward Sander and Owen Peter Sander.
Her brother Henry W. Stevens Jr. and his wife Dana Stevens of Uniontown, Ohio. Their two children Kristina (Stevens) Jennings & husband Larry, children Hadley & Hannah and Jessica Stevens & daughter Dana. Also survived by many special aunts, and uncles and treasured cousins.
Paulette had an abundance of love for her family, church family and friends. Above all else, she loved her Lord & King, Jesus Christ. She loved meeting the people God placed in her path and sharing with them whatever God asked. She loved to share her “God Stories”. She felt that there was no deed too small to do for others and that it was a privilege to be able to. Her challenge to you is to remember that everyday is your chance to step into your “God Story” with God. So, take time to recognize those He places in your path. It will change your life & perspectives forever.
The family is so grateful for the love and care of so many people who chose to support them: Dr. Mackin and the palliative care team; special nurse, Sam and the extra mural team, St. Stephen; a team of wonderful Kindred home care workers; the Charlotte County Hospital and the staff of the local Jean Coutu.
