Donna Mitchell

Obituary of Donna Marie Mitchell

MITCHELL DONNA  M.  - It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Donna Marie Mitchell at the Charlotte County Hospital on Thursday, November 27th, 2025.

Born at the Chipman Hospital in St. Stephen, NB; she is the daughter of the late Donald (Barney) & Marie (Groom) Mitchell.

Donna lived the early years of her life in Heathland with her parents and later with her grandparents. Her childhood years surrounded her with lots of family. She especially loved spending time on the swing at her Heathland home with a cold glass of Kool - Aid; was always welcomed on those hot summer days!

Her younger years had lots of good memories. As her health declined she eventually spent the rest of her life in a special care facility. She celebrated and was very grateful for the loving kindness   and attention  she received under the care of Dorothy Brown. Donna spent 22 years with Dorothy and thought of her as a sister.

For the most part, the last five or so years of her life she spent in hopsital. She had many health issues that continued tobring her much suffering, though she seldom complained.

She always enjoyed going to church. Her roots were Kirk McColl United, but she as well celebrated her time in other church settings. She loved the old christian gospel hymns.

Donna loved her family and had a special relationship with her aunt Priscilla Mires and her cousin Cheryl Dempsey. They shared many wonderful memories over the years celebrating birthdays, lunch at Carmen's  Diner and christmas time spent at Priscilla's house exchanging gifts. Those years were the best years for Donna. She was happiest when she had family around her.

She loved a vanilla milkshake and french fries, usually every Tuesday night when she and her mom went to the mall to shop and have lunch before going home again.

Donna is predeceased by her parents, grandparents, and some cousins.

She is an only child with the exception of her baby brother Jeffrey Donald who passed away in infancy.

Donna's family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Dr's and  nurses of Charlotte County Hospital for every kindness shown to Donna during her time in hospital.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. On line condolences to the family or donations can be made at www.humphreysfh.com
