I am saddened to hear of Amanda’s passing. While I didn’t know her personally, I communicated with her quite frequently for a short period of time while working in Commercial Operations in Halifax in 23/24. Not only was she knowledgeable and professional as a Programs Officer (and incredibly thorough), but I was always struck by her patience and kindness. My deepest condolences to Amanda’s family, friends and fellow colleagues.

I've been struggling for days to find the right thing to say to the family...I haven't found the words. I empathize with your grief and wish there were something I could do. I have many fond memories of miss Amanda Jane. She was a kind, fun, and loyal friend who always had my back...especially in badminton. We kicked ass. She was easy to talk to, laugh with, shed a few tears with...but not fight with - man she could hold her ground! I loved that. A strong woman, no doubt. I'm honored to have shared roots and fond memories with her. I can still hear her gentle laugh. Rest in peace, my friend. Hugs + sincere condolences to you all. You're in my thoughts.

To the beautiful family of the amazing Amanda, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Amanda’s daughter and I were born at nearly the same time in the same place, and so even as a new born I was lucky enough to be around her. Amanda played such a huge role in my life - she was my second Mom from 6th grade until her daughter and I graduated high school. I was so often at their house, it was my second home. I have so many unforgettable memories of Amanda - not least of which, all the times my stomach hurt and tears ran down my face from laughing so hard at her constant banter and sense of humour. She was so supportive of me, and her family played a large role in shaping me during my formative years. A truly beautiful soul, one of a kind, and full of brightness. I am so sorry; please know that I will forever hold Amanda in a very special place in my heart.

Our memories of Amanda span almost a half century in varied contexts, but it is as neighbour and fellow tennis enthusiast that formed the most recent of these memories. On the tennis court she was a fierce competitor as a neighbour she was gracious. In the upcoming days and weeks may your family, friends, faith and fond memories help ease your sorrow.

Amanda came to work at Customs and I had the pleasure & fun! of working with her. We had many long talks, especially on those midnight shifts. She & Joey let me help them, in my part time role as a real estate agent, buy their home. They knew right away what they wanted and filled their home with love.
After retiring long stretches would go by without seeing her and then we would run into each other and make time to catch up.
Always, in our talks, her love for her family was foremost. Filling me in on Jessy and Nicholas stories, she showed her love and pride and sometimes including those life moments that gave us a few laughs.
Rest in peace Amanda.
Sending my love and hugs to all her family.❤️

Since hearing this shocking news, I’ve been praying for peace, and comfort for her whole family.
Since Amanda was a young girl working with her family, I can’t remember one time where I didn’t see that charming, beaming smile. Seeing her at customs was always a nice pick-me-up. If I got that enjoyment from our brief, but numerous encounters, I can only imagine the love, joy, and wonder, with which, she filled her family and friends lives.
With deepest, heartfelt condolences,

I met Amanda when I started grade 2 in St Stephen and we were the best of friends from that day on.
I was lucky to have lots of great memories hanging out at her home, she would invite me for a sleepover and to watch a movie she would bring home from her parents store, promising me "it wouldn't be a scary one" Somehow she was always "shocked" it ended up being a thriller and I was left shaking, and she, giggling with delight that she got me again. When her mother would make curried chicken for supper, Amanda would bring extra for lunch to share with me because she knew how much I liked it, she was always so very thoughtful in that way and in too many other ways to mention.
Often in life you have friends who drift in and out of your life that may feel like a final point on the end of the connection, but she and I never felt like that, we both said no matter how much time went by between visits or messages it was like no time had passed at all, truly like family that you know the bond can not be broken. Just weeks ago I saw that Amanda and Joey's house was advertised for sale and I immediately messaged her to ask what her new address was, I joked what if I may need to seek refuge one day? She was my own personal emergency contact. She laughed and sent me the address and said of course her home was always open. Which always meant the world to me.
When Jessica moved to Alberta we had a great talk on the phone and laughed about how fun it would be for Amanda to fly out to Edmonton and then the two of us could drive to Fort Mac on an adventure like old times, Thelma and Louise style, having a blast.
Amanda was the best friend and oldest friend I've ever had and there is no way to express the gratitude I feel for having her in my life.
There is no end to the profound sorrow I feel for the loss of my friend, her unfairly shortened time and for the grief this brings to Joey and the kids, her sister and mother, I do know that they will find some comfort in the amazing close relationship they all shared and the memories of what a truly wonderful person she was in every way.
May God bless all of you,
Wendy

My heart is just broken for all who loved Amanda. What a true beauty to have in our lives. She treated my son, like a son of her own. She brightened every room she walked in. I will never forget her kindness and her support for me and my son..so many times. I will always remember her inviting a lone Mother and Son over for Christmas Eve when she knew we were alone. I also want to say..she was one of the sweetest songbirds. Amanda was an amazing singer. Her voice was absolutely beautiful. The angels just got one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard to sing along side them. My heart is with you all. God bless your dear family, Amanda...we will help watch over them. Fly high and sing, beautiful Amanda. Basketball Moms Rule.
