Obituary of Audrey G. Cossaboom
COSSABOOM AUDREY G. - With great sadness, we announce the passing of Audrey Gertrude (Thompson) Cossaboom on Saturday July 19th, 2025. As she was getting up and getting ready for the day, God called her home with family by her side, assuring her of how loved she was and she would be missed!
Audrey was born on March 17th, 1932 to David and Gertrude Thompson of Chance Harbour, NB. She loved to talk about her childhood years, skating on the pond, playing softball, enjoying time with cousins and swimming at the beach. This is where she began her love of reading, playing piano/organ and sang with her sisters in the church. In her teen years she travelled weekly to vocational school as her parents wanted her to have a good education. After high school she pursued her love of teaching by getting a teachers license and began her career in Clarendon, NB. She then transferred to teach on White Head Island. She boarded with a couple of good Christian ladies and enjoyed spending time with new friends. This is where she met the love of her life, Colby Cossaboom. They were married on July 15, 1955. They had four children – Gertrude (Armando) Torralva, Jean (Larry) Rushton, Harold (Sharon) Cossaboom and Margaret (Jamie) Small. They were overjoyed when the grandchildren arrived – Jenna (Jerry) Rideout, Candace (Sam) Stranks, Harold Robert (Kristi) Cossaboom, Samuel (Marcy) Rushton, Krista (Farres) Torralva, Ethan (Kennedy) Rushton, Douglas (Lexi) Cossaboom, Megan (Amos) Grant. Then 9 great grandchildren arrived!!
She leaves behind a special sister Marion (Arnold) Murray and a loving cousin Jane Steeves as well as nieces and nephews, she dearly loved!
Her passion of teaching brought her here but the desire to be a faithful loving wife and mother took priority, teaching us all how to live. She had a love of serving in the White Head Baptist Church in Bible Club, DVBS, filling in at Sunday School, leading the Christmas cantatas and church choir. She hosted and played in the Saturday Nighters Music Group every weekend, which she immensely enjoyed!
Many mornings and throughout the day you could find her at her table with her Bible reading and praying for you all. Her love for people took her to the store talking and laughing with everyone whether she knew you or not.
She was predeceased by her parents, her young sister Louise Pearson, her loving husband and her only son Harold Wayne Cossaboom.
With great love and appreciation we would like to humbly thank her caregivers – Jenna, Jenny/Mike, Sharon, Denise and Kristi. We couldn’t have done it without them! Also extra Mural Sally Ingersoll and Taylor Wilson. Great Thanks to Ryan and Michelle – 2 paramedics who lovingly gave us the time we needed to say our goodbyes.
Visitation will take place at White Head Baptist Church on Thursday July 24th from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Funeral will be held on Friday July 25th at 1:00 pm
Graveside service following at the White Head Cemetery.
