
Obituary of Gary Melbourne Appleby
APPLEBY GARY M. – Unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, July 11th, 2025; Gary Melbourne Appleby, husband of Carolyn (Jackson) Appleby of St. Stephen, NB. Born in St. Stephen, NB; he is the son of the late Reginald & Eva (Saulnier) Appleby.
Gary worked for Aurauco (Flakeboard Co.) until his retirement after 35 years.
Gary enjoyed sports as a catcher on the Milltown Baseball teams, that won the intermediate A and B and the Senior New Brunswick Baseball Championships. In the winter Gary & his family enjoyed snowmobiling, were members of the Alexander Club for 20 years plus, belonged to the Scoodic Sunshine Campers for over 35 years. Gary & his wife belonged to the Town & Country Square Dancers and By The Sea Rounders.
In later years Gary & his son Brian enjoyed meeting their buddies at Tim Hortons.
Gary is predeceased by his son Allan, sister Sheila, brother Wayne, brother in law Bob.
Gary is survived by his wife Carolyn of 60 happy years, son Brian, daughter in law Carla (Steven) Gowan, grandson Shawn Appleby (Amy), granddaughter Tina (Luke) Canavan, great granddaughters Alexis, Macenzie, Ellie, Hailey, Gabby, Olivia and 1 great grandson Zachary Shurtlrff.
By Gary’s request, there will be no visitation at this time. Cremation will take place. A graveside service will take place at a later date at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Gary’s memory to St. Croix Vocational Centre or a charity of the donors choice. On line condolences or donations can be made at www.humphreysfh.com
