Obituary of Shirley Jean Burns
Burns, Shirley Jean
Septermber 13, 1941 - July 3, 2025)
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived we announce the passing of our mother and Nanny, at Charlotte County hospital, surrounded by family and love. Shirley was the heart of our family-fierce in her love, gentle in her guidance and unwavering in her strength. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter and love.
Her wisdom showed up in everyday moments: in quiet encouragement , in shared stories over dinner , and in the way she made everyone feel seen and valued. Shirley had a way of making others feel at home. Whether through a warm meal, comforting love or a listening ear, she gave generously of herself. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity and love.
She is survived by her children David and his wife Kelly, Ray and his wife Megan and Lynn. The light of her life was her five grandchildren, Andrew, Aislyn, William, Hadlie and Rhea.
She has five brothers, Eldon (Irene),Royal (late Marg), Vincent (late Marg), Wayne (Judy)and Maurice (late Betty) and one sister Maizie (late Gordon)and so many special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and so many treasured friends, who will carry her memory forward with love and honour.
She was predeceased by her parents Alice and Robert, the love of her life, her husband, William, her brothers in law, Doug (Ruth), Melvin (Jean), and sister in laws Jean (Stanley) and Jackie (Phil).
Shirley’s family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Charlotte County Hospital for their tremendous and compassionate care.
