Dear Lisa, Michael, Debbie, Lane, Larry and families, an angel has gotten her wings. While thinking about her I found myself smiling. There were no bad times with Murlene, and trust me, we had a lot of 'times' together. Kind, witty, generous and just plain wonderful are but a few adjectives to describe her. She will be remembered fondly.

I was so very saddened to hear of Murlene's death. She was like a second mum to me in high school. In fact she and my mum were in frequent communication, I think, to keep track of what Debbie and I were up to.
I hadn't seen her for many years when my husband and I visited Grand Manan in the nineties. I wasn't even sure where she lived and ended up inquiring for her at Sears, where it turned out she no longer worked. By the time we pulled up at her door she knew all about the fact that someone from Ontario was trying to track her down. We were hugged and welcomed in for dinner, old stories, and many, many laughs.
Then in 2010 my husband and I visited her again for several days. She was so pleased to see us. Murlene was always pleased to see you. Always ready with hugs, and fond remembrances, as if no time had passed. I left Grand Manan for Ottawa that time with more memories stored up, plus a severe addiction to Coronation Street. She loved her Corrie Street.
Murlene will be missed by so many people with whom she came into contact in her life. Probably many more than she realized. Certainly by me.
My sincere sympathies to Deb and Billy, and to Lane, Lisa, and Michael and their families.

Murlene and I shared the same name although spelled differently. We were childhood friends especially in high school
Even though we lost touch in recent years, I shall never forget her.
I wish to extend my sincerest sympathies to her family.
Merlene (Wilson) MacDonald.

I have such good memories of her. She was like a second mother to me. Spent a lot of time with Lisa and Murlene was always there ready to listen to us. Loved her sense of humour. She was also a good friend to my mother. Thinking of you all at this time. So hard to lose your mother.

So very sorry to hear of Murlene's passing. She was a Special Lady! Loved her smile. Understood her love for her island. I came to know her many years ago through Lisa and Mike. She occupied a special place in my heart. Now my heart goes out to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and Larry. I know she was loved well!

I am so sorry to hear of Murlene’s death. She had such a beautiful, warm smile. It was nice to have even the briefest conversation with her and I knew she was genuinely interested. She and Mom (Alice) got a great giggle at being mistaken for one another. I pray that you will have comfort from your memories.

So very sorry of the loss of your Mom . My memories go back many years to the house in the Cove and playing with Lisa . Murlene always made me feel welcomed . She was a beautiful woman and in later years I enjoyed talking to her when we would see each other at the store or while walking the Marsh . Thinking of you all during this sad time
