Mass of Christian Burial

Obituary of Edwin Joseph LeBlanc
LeBlanc, Edwin Joseph –
It is with great sadness that the family of Edwin Joseph LeBlanc announces his unexpected passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Edwin was the beloved husband of Rosemarie (Brennan) LeBlanc of Chamcook, N.B., with whom he shared sixty-four wonderful years.
Born in Saint John, N.B., Edwin was the son of the late Eugene and Julia (Frenette) LeBlanc. A skilled welder by trade, Edwin and Rose moved to St. Andrews in 1963 when he was hired as the first Welding Instructor at the newly opened New Brunswick Community College. Over the course of his 30-year career at NBCC, he served not only as an instructor but also in various academic administrative roles. Never one to rest on his accomplishments, Edwin continued to work in the welding trade and was instrumental in helping his son Michael establish L&B Industrial, a family-run welding business.
A lifelong learner, Edwin was proud to earn both a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education from the University of New Brunswick. He cherished the moment when all five of his children and his wife were present to celebrate his graduation.
Edwin was a devout member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Deeply committed to his community, he also served on the St. Andrews Town Council, including one term as Deputy Mayor. His passion for youth and sport led him to be heavily involved with St. Andrews Minor Hockey, where, as president, he worked tirelessly to ensure that every child in Charlotte County had the opportunity to play the game he loved. He received a citation from the Governor of Massachusetts for the promotion of youth sports.
Ed also loved animals. At any time of the year, you would find him feeding the birds, dogs, cats, squirrels and any other animal in need at the lake. Over the years, his cherished dogs brought him immense joy and companionship. Tourists and community members often spoke about the “man with the dog treats” and how wonderful he was. Neighborhood pets would often stop by his home, instinctively drawn to his warmth, kindness, and the certainty of a gentle pat and a treat.
In addition to his wife Rosemarie, Edwin is survived by his son Michael (Lezlie) of Chamcook, N.B.; and his four daughters: Mary Lynne Borsella (John) of Shediac River, N.B.; Nicolle Moore (Mark) of Chamcook, N.B.; Michelle Morrison (Barry) of St. Andrews, N.B.; and Monique Davis (Tim) of St. Stephen, N.B. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Kyle, Lauren (Adam), Megan (Angus), Kent ([Amanda]), Blake, Madison (Justin), Dante, Mackenzie, Powell, Rhea, and Mallory; his cherished coffee group; many dear friends and four siblings.
In keeping with Edwin’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of Saint Andrew, 212 Parr Street, St. Andrews, with Fr. Arokia Dass Chinnappan officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, the Charlotte County SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.humphreysfh.com.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, N.B. E3L 2B2 (506-466-3110).
