So sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. She was a lovely person and so giving. I remember on our 40th wedding anniversary stopping into the China Chest. She was thrilled and gifted us a pinwheel vase that she remembered we had on our wedding list years before. She always had a smile on her face and a wonderful sense of humor. May God comfort your family at thuis difficult time. Deanie and Dennis Gowan

My condolences on the loss of your Mom. She was a great friend of my Mother Joyce Enright(McCarlie). They shared many visits and laughs over the years. I remember one trip they took to the States to visit their good friend Margie Williamson. Every time I was in St.Andrews I would visit her in her store and a have a lovely chat. Hope all of your memories of your Mom comfort you . Barb Holt (Enright)

Susan and your family,
I am so very sad for your loss. My mom, Margie Williamson Stonner, and your mom were best friends and I was named after her
I have so many memories and had so much fun with your mom and my mom. She was always one of the first persons I went to see when we came to St Andrews to visit my grandparents
She was an amazing, intelligent, fun, loving, generous, warm and kind individual and oh her laugh was infectious and loved a good joke.
I’ll miss her but will cherish all the memories!
My best to all of you
Much love
Nancy Stonner Drischler

Dear Susan and family, We were sorry to hear of your Moms passing.
You were just a young girl when we lived in St Andrews Susan and may
not remember us. We were great friends with your mom and Dad. Your
Mother was a really unique lady with a great sense of humor and such
dedication to her fabulous China Chest. I would often go and sit with her
at the China Chest if things weren’t busy…even helped out a few times
when things were busy. We had a lot of laughs and your Mom will be fondly
remembered by us. RIP Nancy

Well Nancy. You took on a whole car load of extra kiddos to help out a life long friend and we kiddos learned to sew kerchiefs and aprons and placemats on a sewing machine. We baked for hours and made life long memories which we cherish every time we sit at a sewing machine to make draperies, quilts, table linens, or clothing. We were reminded that moms and grandma's still carry in their souls the adventures of girls who road bikes between town and Minister's Island and rowed Ernest Wentworth's boat between the town wharf and Navy Island to find a quieter place to study, or chill when studying seemed elusive. We are a special clan of Saint John St Andrews girls who have travelled the world for treasures to hold and share. We knew exactly where to find that thoughtful gift that would require at least an hour to look over everything in the China Chest. Running a business, welcoming guests, understanding the sacrifices as well as the joys of living and working in St Andrews through buoyant and tough economic times. And the laughs over a cup of tea, great food, and maybe even a pen full of new puppies. We always knew how to set the table for many courses; whether for paupers or princes AND we still know which butter knives go where.

Hello,
I have never met your Mom, but reading the obituary, so well written, it was A Life Well Lived.
I read something once called the Dash. The dash being from the time you were born until the time you passed.
It said make the distance in between those years as full as you can. Your Mom did just that!
Very sorry for your loss, but also be very proud of your Mom.

Your Mum will be missed by many, many people. She was the bedrock person of St Andrews for many folks. Going into the China Chest was a “must do” for me and my family for decades. When I was a crossing guard for the elementary school, her corner was my corner and many the cold morning she’d come out and offer me a treat of some sort. She was a jewel in the crown of St Andrews and will be missed by millions for generations. Sincere Condolences. Dorothea Hooper

My deepest condolences to Susan and Brian . Nancy was a wonderful person who had one of the greatest sense of humour that I ever encountered. I worked many summers for Nancy and enjoyed every moment. Work days consisted of many laughs and stories. Later in life I often would stop in for a visit and a laugh.
She was a very talented lady who could whip up a meal , dress a window, make the most beautiful craft items as well as having an outgoing and pleasant personality.
She will be missed as a valuable member of the community. It won’t be the same without her.

Nancy will be missed by friends near & far. On return visits to St. Andrews, Nancy was always a welcome back, friendly face. Nancy was a great Neighbor when we lived on Frederick St and I couldn’t walk by without stopping in to say hi and exchange a joke or two. The corner of Frederick and Water Street will never be the same. R.I.P. my dear friend.
