Obituary of Marilyn Joyce Cary
Marilyn Cary, 87, passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Sunday, March 23. 2025. Born in Grand Manan New-Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John & Lois (Ingersoll) Brown. She was predeceased by her Husband William Cary in 2014.
She is survived by son Ian Cary, daughter Linda Cary Green (Robyn), granddaughters; Cary-Lynn and Kathryn Brown, siblings John Brown (Charmaine), Selinda Ryder (Murray), Robert Brown (Late Barbara), Sister-in-laws Betty, Jean and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in addition to her parents and husband by siblings, Leola, Deanna, Edith, George, Sherwin, and half-sister Dorothy Griffin.
Marilyn graduated from Grand Manan High School in 1955 and went on to earn her diploma from New Brunswick Teachers' College in 1956. She began her teaching career in Meductic and St. Stephen before returning to Grand Manan. She dedicated many years to education, retiring in 1995. Marilyn's greatest joy in life was her family. She found immense happiness in spending time with her granddaughters and proudly supported them as they played basketball for many years. A devoted follower of the Lord, Marilyn, was deeply involved in her church community. She was one of the founders of Action Ministries and served as its director for over 30 years. Marilyn's compassionate spirit was evident in her dedication to helping others, always striving to support those in need within her community.
The family wants to thank the staff at the Grand Manan Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care.
Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation at the Immanuel Family Church (749 Rte. 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 3C4) on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. A Funeral service will be held the following day Thursday March 27, 2025, from the church at 1PM, reception to follow. Interment will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
