Obituary of Gary Essensa
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gary Donald Essensa (Buppy). Surrounded by family, passed peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Monday, March 11th, 2025. Gary, husband of Mary Essensa (McCutcheon) was born in St. Stephen, NB; son of the late Walter & Mary (Percy) Essensa.
Gary’s passions in life included construction, investing and agriculture, but his biggest passion of all was his family. He graduated from St. Stephen High School in the class of 1969. After high school he attended Agriculture College in Truro, Nova Scotia for one year. After his time in Nova Scotia, he attended UNB for 4 years, graduating in 1975 with his civil engineering degree. Gary’s civil engineering career began at Point Lepreau until 1980, then finished the remainder of his working career at Southwest Concrete & Construction in St. Stephen.
During retirement, Gary enjoyed travelling to British Columbia to visit his family. He also had the opportunity of travelling south to Aruba, which is one of his fondest memories. Even though he was retired, he enjoyed staying in touch with co-workers to get the latest news on upcoming projects.
