Obituary of Albion L. Benson

BENSON, ALBION L. – Passed away after a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 13 th , 2025 at the age of 71 years.

Albion Leoland Benson of Grand Manan, NB. He was born on Grand Manan,the son of James E. Benson of Grand Manan & the late Nelda (nee Wilson) Benson.

    Albion worked at Connors Bros. for many years. He dedicated his life as a volunteer with the Grand Manan Fire Dept. Albion thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. Specifically being able to ride on his John Deere lawnmower. He could be found driving almost everywhere with it. He couldn’t get enough of helping out anyone that needed (or didn’t need) their grass mowed.

    He was a long time member of Seal Cove Baptist Church.

    Albion is survived by his father James E. Benson; his siblings Peter (Brenda) of Grand Manan, Christine Phillips (Ron) of Moncton, NB, Walter, Tosha,both of Grand Manan, Lavina Benson (Steve) of St. Stephen, NB &  Howard (Roxanne) of Grand Manan and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Albion was predeceased by his mother Nelda (nee Wilson) Benson and two brothers John & Theodore.

   The funeral service in celebration of Albion’s life will be held on Tuesday,February 18 th , 2025 at 1:00 pm at Seal Cove Baptist Church. The interment will take place in the spring at Mark Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church during a time of visitation on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
