It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Jacqueline Anne Bateman (Jackie) at Lincourt Manor on Oct 2 at the age of 90. Born in St Stephen she was the youngest daughter of Chester and Jennie (Macnaughton)) Bateman. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sisters, Geraldine (Leroy) Brewer and Evelyn (Mick) Sellers. She is survived by several nieces, a nephew, several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Jackie received her diploma from the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing and with the exception of a year of private duty in St Andrews she worked at the Charlotte County Hospital until her retirement. A monarchist since a very young age, she was very proud of her collection of Royal memorabilia and books. In 2002 she was the recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee medal. She was a giving person, always ready to help, volunteered for the Boy Scouts for many years; she was a member of the St Stephen town council, served on the board of directors of many organizations including Lincourt Manor, Lonicera Hall, and the St Stephen rural cemetery. She was also a member of the NB Seniors Advisory Committee. Jackie was an animal lover, she adored cats and had several over the years, and when she could no longer care for her own, always had the cupboard stocked with food for the neighbor hood strays. Up until early spring she enjoyed attending Charlie’s auctions and we thank them for making sure she got there and back home safely. We will miss her. The family gives special thanks to Lincourt Manor for the exceptional care given to Jackie throughout the summer. We would sincerely like to thank Jackie’s neighbours,Norma,Elva,Wilma ,Carol and Donald Eastman and Donald Brewer and Home Support for all they did for her so she could remain in her home as long as possible. We will be forever grateful. A graveside memorial will be held at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery on Sunday October 09, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Care has been entrusted to Humphreys Funeral Home (20 Marks St. St. Stephen NB E3L 2B2). Donations in memory of Jackie can be made to Lincourt Manor, St Stephen SPCA, Carma Cat Rescue of Charlotte County, or the charity of donor’s choice.
