Mary and Vanessa,
I am saddened by the passing of Derrick; he was taken too soon.
I have many, many memories of Derrick. Even though we were separated by distance on Grand Manan, being from North Head and Seal Cove, we grew up together. We share Family (we are cousins), we share Faith (we grew up Anglican), and we share school from grades 5-12. Following graduation, we both entered the Canadian Armed Forces and attended military college together.
I have fond memories of Seal Cove, of going to camp, and of sharing many life experiences.
Even through life, we kept in touch as best we could with visits on P.E.I., a stay at our home in Halifax when he moved to Lower Sackville and periodic visits for meals and catch-up chats.
I can only believe that Derrick maintained his Faith to the end, so I will leave these words that bring comfort to the believer that when we pass on to our Eternal Father, All Is Made Well.
Revelation 21:3-5 (NLT)
3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.
4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
